The Fake MS505245

Well if you have it, just like me - we are screwed.I contacted the official Autel support ( on 19.07.2013 ) and still waiting reply on what to do.According to many sources we can fix out cable ( the one from the MaxiScan to PC ), but we need the pin diagram.When I have more news, I will update the website, or if you have something that worked, feel free to post it as a comment.It will be appreciated!

Here are some stuff about the fake one:
This item is a Chinese copy which is easy to spot with the lack of a UK serial number, so no Uk support or warranty. Also, this item has NO software upgrades even for genuine devices as claimed as it is out of production, let alone copies which all have the embedded Ser. No. MS505245. This device will not connect to a computer, so readings cannot be printed out. If you buy genuine old stock, make sure it has a serial number on the back. A check of reviews on the Amazon dot com site pointed me toward this information.

I just received this unit myself yesterday, 9/5/2013 and already put it to use and printed the data. I got good codes, (backed up by one from AutoZone)

I did your update for the software version. I am now at Ver. 3.0

Thank you for the help and this site, I will be looking at this more myself, if there is anything else please post it I will be checking your blog..

Hi, I found this:

"It is missing the hardware components that control usb communications U16 - FT232BL ; USB to Serial converter, CRY4 Crystal and Capacitors C15 and C16 located on lower left side of circuit board."

and this

I have OHM'ed out my usb cable and it connects as followed SCANNER USB pin 13 > pin 4 GRD pin 12 > pin3 pin 11 > pin2 pin 10 > pin1 +5 I would like to know if this is correct.

@Annonymous
You are welcome!

@Vader1701
Thanks for the help!

@Bowidow
Hey!

I havent taken any actions on moding/fixing the fake device, but when I do so, you will know. You can try on your own and post results, but Autel does not want to give me the diagram for the USB, so I can not help you in this one.

Good day!

Gary, great work mapping out the pin out, after seeing your other updates, I was thinking the same thing to map them out. It would be useful with a person with an actual device to provide their pin out, and pin out for their USP device.
